We at ICC have a soft spot for everything rock. And Raahi, the debut single by Pune-based rock band Sadakchaap quenched our thirst for some good ol’ rock music from the indie scene.
Founded by vocalist Amrit Rai in 2019, the band line was finalized with Guitarist Budhaditya Deb, Bassist Karan Aherewal & Drummer Harmesh Pillay in 2020. If you grew up in the late ’90s in India watching VH1 and MTV, Raahi will remind you of those times you air-guitared and banged your head.
The soul-searching, motivational lyrics, and Amrit’s solid vocals add energy to this well arranged, powerful instrumental. With some hook-worthy riffs on a sturdy and consistent drum line backed by the foundational bass guitar, Raahi has balanced parts of distorted and clean, hard and soft sounds that make the listening experience very enjoyable. The cherry on top is the small breakdown part where the drums go off in a double bass groove with the song riff, the guitars break into a clean solo. We love how the song comes back to the soft acoustic guitars and goes into another energy-packed chorus.
We can only imagine when Sadakchaap plays this song live, the audience will go crazy. Don’t miss the opportunity of catching them live the next time they are in your town. For now, go rock out with Raahi!
P.S. We at ICC do not review the music we post in our magazine because we want our readers and the artiste’s listeners to go and listen to the music with an open mind! We try to describe the song the way we perceive it and why we love it!
