Memories by Anish Nair

If you frequent our magazine, you’d know well, we have a soft corner for everything rock. So it’s extra special when we have an indie rock song submission. Like this one!

A Keralite, born and brought up in Shillong and now based in Jaipur, Anish Nair has been in the metal/rock scene for 11 years. He was the vocalist and lyricist of the metal band Night Wings III. They released a full-length album under Universal Music back in 2014. Now, Anish works solo and has released his debut single, Memories.

If you listen to bands like Nightwish, Opeth, Alter Bridge, you’re gonna love Memories. The lovely emo arpeggios with tight drums and a strong baseline set a perfect foundation for Memories. Anish’s weighty vocals are a cherry on the cake. The lyrics explore the idea of how sometimes memories are never made. The delicate, melancholic tone resonates well with the heavy chorus section. The solo is fabulous, tasteful, and fits right in. Memories’ producer Gunjan Soral has done a great job bringing all these sounds together. We loved listening to Memories and highly recommend you do too!

P.S. We at ICC do not review the music we post in our magazine because we want our readers and the artiste’s listeners to go and listen to the music with an open mind! We try to describe the song the way we perceive it and why we love it!
