Raastay by Nerak

Pune-based rapper Nerak has released his second solo single, Raastay. Nerak is a project created by Vishal Gaikwad, a dancer and a singer/songwriter. After a well-received solo debut, Nerak has released a few songs with The Pune Project, a hip-hop collective. Raastay is a song about exploration, introspection, and acceptance.

Raastay starts off with some quirky vocal processing. The rap is strong, confident, and thought-provoking. Lyrics explore the transition from ‘Self Hatred’ to ‘Self Acceptance’ in one’s life. The instrumentation is slick, minimal, and leaves a lot of room for the focus on lyrics and rapping. Our favorite part is the bridge section of the song. It’s the most melodic part of the song and we couldn’t get enough!

I went to the studio with the thought that I want to experiment as much as possible. I knew the sound I wanted. Vedang, who produced this track is a magician! He did his magic and fulfilled my vision” says Nerak. And we agree, the production quality of the Raastay is top-notch.

P.S. We at ICC do not review the music we post in our magazine because we want our readers and the artiste’s listeners to go and listen to the music with an open mind! We try to describe the song the way we perceive it and why we love it!
