Whiskey Blues being Aanchal’s debut original single, she already has some buzz about her in the indie music fraternity. Aanchal got an opportunity to be a member of The Vienna Songwriter Circle in Austria when she was 16 years old. Having also opened for indie music acts such as Parvaaz, Easy Wanderlings, The F16s, and Hanita Bhambri, Aanchal is the lead vocalist and songwriter of the Indie Inconvenience, a Bangalore based indie duo. All this repertoire and experience reflects in Whiskey Blues, no doubt!
The soulful fingerpicking on the guitar with a subtle atmos layer in the background starts off Whiskey Blues just perfectly. The moment you hear Aanchal’s voice, the guitars fade, and her brilliant vocals swoop you away. Smartly articulated lyrics instantly demand your empathy. Her singing style and voice remind us of Florence Welch. The tiny SFXs that come and go accentuate the emotion very well. So well mixed and mastered, you can’t get enough of it. The ending is so unexpected that you will go back and listen to the whole song again. It’s a cute, heartwarming, two and half minutes story of love and acceptance, packaged in an ear worm of a song!
